QR Nature Trail

For my graduate project, I worked with the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most popular refuges in the nation with over 800,000 visitors annually.

I coordinated the development of the Interactive Nature Trail or "iNature Trail" that allows visitors to take a self-guided tour using new trail signs with custom QR codes printed on them. When scanned, the code connects visitors to online video content featuring refuge rangers talking about plants and wildlife in the area.

  • Developed in-depth project timeline

  • Conducted extensive mobile technology research and implemented QR code best practices

  • Worked with the client to stay within budget

  • Leveraged variety of skills (project management, video editing, design) to accomplish goals

The project was a big success with over 10 trail signs, 20 contextual videos, and some great press for the refuge including stories from USA Today, Fox News, Reuters, Wink News, and NBC 2.
